Pashmina from Kashmir - the true luxury
Pashmina is not just a fabric, it is true luxury and "soft gold". It is made from the sub-hairs of Kashmiri mountain goats, which live at an altitude of more than 5,000 metres. This down is four times finer than human hair, which gives pashmina its lightness and elasticity, making it an exceptional and precious material. Pashmina is made by hand, which makes its production a very labour-intensive and rare process. It takes about 400 grams of fluff to make one shawl, which requires careful manual collection and cleaning. The fluff is then turned into threads using a hand woollen machine and then woven on hand bars. The process to make a single shawl can take from a week to a month, depending on the complexity of the design.
